Data used for parts- and spare parts commissioning in industrial projects are commonly processed using Spare Parts Interchangeability Records (SPIRs) - crucial elements of any industrial supply chain management operation. But the traditional norm of using spreadsheets and email to process them is overdue for an overhaul, and Smartcube Solutions' I-SPIR platform aims to do just that.
Key stakeholders involved
Offshore Norway is deeply invested in the digital transformation processes on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and in 2021 the organization saw the potential for I-SPIR to become a SPIR tool for all NCS operators.
For I-SPIR to become a one-size-fits-all solution, Offshore Norway ordered a customized version with features and functions decided by a project group consisting of key future users. A project group was spearheaded by Aker BP and key NCS operators and suppliers, and the final customized version is called Collabor8 SPIR.
The I-SPIR technology has the potential to become a core component in a SPIR platform in Offshore Norway’s extended Collabor8 line of industry solutions. Upon successful pilot results, the Collabor8 SPIR initiative will be presented by key operators and suppliers on the NCS
- We are very excited for the launch of this pilot, which is the result of thorough mapping and planning alongside a group of dedicated and experienced industry supply chain representatives. It has been tailored to fit their needs and wants, and we look forward to both the results of the pilot and the possibilities this represent for the rest of the NCS energy industry, says Smartcube Solutions CEO Ove Ryland.
- The NCS is seen by many as the “gold standard” for technology and innovation, and the core elements of our solution has a true global potential across most asset heavy industries, both onshore and offshore, he adds.
Leading by example
- We now have a way to directly improve and digitally transform supply chain operations, says Henning Danielsen, Aker BP’s Supply Chain Manager for PreOps Procurement & Inventory.
Mr. Danielsen been involved in the development and fine tuning of the project since 2021. and has led the team effort of fine tuning of features and workflows prior to pilot launch.
- Collaborations like this allow operators to lead by example for suppliers, partners and other stakeholders. By standardizing project delivery frameworks, we can help guide suppliers towards more sustainable operations and establish a preferred way of doing things, says Danielsen.
The Fenris field was chosen for the pilot due to being first in line for equipment and SPIR deliveries in Aker BP’s large greenfield project portfolio. The pilot is set to run throughout Q1 2024 before being gradually rolled out across the NCS.
I-SPIR is suitable for every industrial project stakeholder, from project owners to suppliers, and can be used on single projects or across portfolio, regions, companies and industries. It is 100% ERP and database compatible, and allows for detailed, role-based access as well as fully customizable features and functions.
